Anadolu Medical Center Ranked As The Worlds Secondbest Hospital In Health Tourism
Anadolu Health Center was chosen as the second best hospital in the world in health tourism by MTQUA (Medical Travel Quality Alliance). Anadolu Health Center International Patient Services Director Aslı Akyavaş, who stated that MTQUA, an independent American organization, evaluates hospitals that provide health tourism in the world according to certain criteria, said, “Hospitals from all over the world are inspected. We came second as Anadolu Health Center among the top 10 hospitals. There is no other hospital from Turkey.”
Anadolu Health Center International Patient Services Director Aslı Akyavaş, who stated that MTQUA sent very detailed questions before coming to inspect the criteria, said, “The hospital’s innovations and new treatments for health tourism are being questioned specifically for international services. How foreign patients are approached and the services are being looked at. Our declared medical second opinion software was very much appreciated. They are sensitive about quality, and we are very successful in this regard. Our infection rates are very low. In short, they are questioning how good the service is for health tourists.”
Foreign patients constitute 40 percent of our income
Emphasizing that they provide treatment in the fields of cardiovascular surgery, bone marrow transplantation, neurosurgery, urology, orthopedics, and women’s health, Aslı Akyavaş said, “We have performed bone marrow transplantation on patients from 25 countries so far. In cancer cases, we diagnose in 2-3 days and start treatment the same week. Foreign patients make up 40 percent of our income. We have a staff of 40 interpreters who speak 17 different languages in our hospital,” he explained.
It is very important for the patient to feel the multidisciplinary approach
Aslı Akyavaş, who emphasized that Anadolu Health Center’s hospital culture is truly patient-oriented in terms of international patients, said, “The International Services Department is very important. The support of the medical staff, the interpreter team, the performance of the sales team, and the fact that they receive fast service are very important. We care about understanding the needs of foreign patients in the best way and providing them with the most accurate service both medically and operationally. We take care of everything about our patients, from Easter celebrations to Christmas celebrations, and even foreign patients being able to cook their own meals in our special patient kitchen. Being fast without compromising quality also makes a difference. We push for multidisciplinary work. It is also very important for the patient to feel the multidisciplinary approach in terms of their perception. Foreign patients feel first-class here,” he said.
The medical team informs the patient in their own language
Stating that the medical team is also very important since the patient’s anxiety about their health is high, Anadolu Health Center International Patient Services Department Director Aslı Akyavaş said, “Our team serves the patient in many languages such as Romanian, Russian, French, English and Turkish. We have also developed a system where we meet with the patient’s family, provide information about the treatment and answer all the patient’s questions. There is no such system in any other hospital in Turkey. We only have 4 doctors working in our department who take care of these patients. This is important and something that challenges the system. The condition of our patients is definitely discussed in medical councils. There is no structure in Turkey other than ours that informs the doctor who refers the patient to Turkey.” He spoke as follows.
The Ministry of Health stated that we have established the necessary structure very well
Aslı Akyavaş, who stated that they came to Anadolu Health Center from the Health Tourism Department of the Ministry of Health (USAŞ), said, “They were very surprised to see such a structure. We explained the doctor team, medical management, business development and marketing and operations. They said that we have established this structure very well. We approach our Turkish patients from this perspective. There is no system that approaches patients like this. When we explained this years ago, these were dreams, but now we have realized it. First, you need to dream. Anadolu Health Center has come to this day by managing patient safety. This also positively affects the hospital culture.”
