Another Esmo For Anadolu Medical Center

Anadolu Health Center received ESMO accreditation for the 6th time

As Anadolu Health Center, we aim to provide the best health service to our patients with our vision of being a reference center in cancer and our multidisciplinary approach. In this context, we have been accredited as an ESMO Designated Center of Integrated Oncology and Palliative Care by ESMO (European Society for Medical Oncology). Anadolu Health Center's oncology and palliative care department has had this accreditation since 2007. Certain criteria must be met every 3 years for the continuity of accreditation.

ESMO evaluates the quality of care of oncology patients, documents that all needs of these patients are evaluated and necessary care practices are implemented. Our work in this regard has been accredited for the sixth time by the ESMO Palliative Care Working Group (PCWG), the section related to palliative care within ESMO.

What is ESMO?

The European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) has been an organization that has supported cancer studies and oncology professionals in Europe and all over the world since 1975.

What is ESMO Palliative Care Accreditation?

In 2003, the ESMO Special Integrated Oncology and Palliative Care accreditation programs, which have a special definition, were launched for cancer centers to ensure high standards of integration of medical oncology and palliative care.

In this program, which aims to fully integrate oncology and palliative care, organizations present various evidence and demonstrate excellent palliative care and oncological care integration under 13 standard headings.

ESMO attaches importance to palliative care as much as oncological treatments. According to ESMO criteria, an excellent cancer center does not only mean being a center that performs radiotherapy or chemotherapy. The center should provide comprehensive support and palliative care to its patients in an integrated manner with oncological care. It requires that all doctors, nurses and other staff who provide care to patients are trained in palliative care and that the patient and family are involved in the care method and care decisions.

As Anadolu Health Center, our aim is to comfort the patient and family and increase their quality of life during and after all stages of diagnosis and treatment, while oncological treatments are ongoing or completed.

Anadolu Health Center has successfully renewed its ESMO accreditation for the 6th time by continuing to successfully fulfill the criteria of the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO). Thus, it has proven its excellence in the integration of oncology and palliative care once again.

ESMO accreditation cannot be easily obtained by every center. Unlike the accreditations we are used to, in this accreditation, we need to complete this integration online through a file with high-level scientific care results and documents. This feature makes it difficult to obtain and makes the accreditation more attractive by increasing its meaning. Working in an organization with ESMO accreditation is a source of pride.

In a perfect cancer center, medical oncology, radiotherapy, surgery, pathology, radiology, nuclear medicine branches must work in a multidisciplinary manner and be gathered under the same roof. In order to provide complete care from the diagnosis of the disease and to provide a comprehensive service to the patient and their family, it is essential that an experienced pain specialist, nutritionist and psychologist are also part of the team in the care of the cancer patient. With this accreditation, we show that we provide better service to our patients and also prove once again that we are a reference center in health.

Anadolu Health Center, which received its first accreditation in 2007 in Turkey, renews its accreditation every three years by fulfilling the criteria completely. The Human-Centered Care and integrated care approach continues to provide an excellent care service with increasing frequency.
