What is Flash CT?

It is a tomography scanning method that produces a cross-sectional image of the part of the body being examined using X-rays and enables to diagnose the disease. Having no match in the world in terms of low radiation rate and fast tomography scanning, this method brings an important advantage in early diagnosis of diseases.

What are the advantages of Flash CT?

Fast scan, low radiation: Cardiac scanning takes only 0.3 seconds and lung scanning only 0.6 seconds to perform. Also capable of scanning an area of 43 cm per second, Flash CT can scan a 2-m-long-person in less than 5 seconds. Due to its very high scanning speed, radiation dose is quite low. Normally every person takes 4 mSv of radiation a year through natural ways. In a Flash CT scan however, less than 1 mSV radiation is used in coronary CT angiography.

Comfort: The elderly and children do not have to hold breath during the scan. This brings benefits both for the patient and the medical staff when the elderly and children do not comply with the instructions.

Visual clarity: Owing to the special software called IRIS, a quite clear image can be produced with a lower dose of radiation.

Dual source feature: Compared with other devices, Flash CT has two tubes and two detectors. This means that two rays transmitted by two tubes are captured by two separate detectors. Thanks to this unique feature, it is possible to perform a more detailed examination. It allows seeing new hemorrhages, vascular obstructions in the brain. Also, with the help of dual source, vascular calcifications can be identified. Although there are two tubes in dual source, radiation amount does not increase. With a special filter method, radiation is reduced. Furthermore, the patient does not have to undergo two procedures because both contrast-enhanced and non-contrast scans can be performed at a time. Dual source also enables us to see, via a single procedure, whether there is any problem at the side supplied by coronaries or not after scanning the heart.

Conclusive and reliable diagnosis: In the past, coronary CT (Computed Tomography) angiography was not able to distinguish bones clearly, but now, with Flash CT, it is possible to differentiate all bones, and view and assess vessels only. Diagnostic accuracy and reliability are increased with this device.

Determining treatment site: Flash CT is able to scan an area of 48 cm continually with a contrast agent. Thus, it examines uptake/behavior of the contrast agent in the mass at that moment. For example, cerebral obstructions in patients with stroke can thus be diagnosed and monitored. The site to be treated is established.

What is 3 Tesla MRI?

It is a tomography method which enables to view the whole body, and which, owing to its capability to take images during surgery, eliminates risks such as residues during surgery, damage in functional areas, or operation in unintended sites. 3 Tesla MRI which enables to perform a whole body MRI scan is also a check-up method that healthy individuals who have cancer risk or concerns may consult.

What are the advantages of 3 Tesla MRI?

 

Comfort: The round compartment in which the patient enters (gantry) is 70 cm in 3 Tesla MRI compared to 60 cm in other devices. This 10-cm difference gives further comfort to the patient, and thanks to its spacious and wide atmosphere, it can easily take in overweight people. Also, since Coils are much lighter, examination becomes more comfortable for the patient. Thanks to the special software, image deteriorations caused by the patient’s movements can be prevented. With special environmental illumination and a ceiling screen, the patient can watch any show he/she desires, and have a comfortable scanning process.

Fast scan: As the device is more powerful, more signals can be received and the scanning process is shortened. Moreover, it is possible to take more images in this shorter period of time. This means enhanced diagnostic accuracy. In a brain MRI for example, it enables to identify the condition and location of a potential tumor better according to its center of activity in the brain. Thereby, surgical results can be estimated more reliably.

With a sequence called twist, for instance; dynamic MRI angiography of a patient with a vascular mass in the leg can be performed in a short period of time and the mass can be monitored.

Detailed whole body scan: Owing to multi-channel coils of 3 Tesla MRI, whole body MRI scan can be performed in detail and in a much shorter period of time.

Visual clarity: It is possible to view bones in high resolution.

More powerful: The more the Tesla power is, the more metabolic images can be obtained. Therefore, data can be obtained more accurately than with low Tesla devices and the right diagnosis can be made.
