The diagnosis and surgical treatment of both benign and malignant brain tumors, spinal cord tumors, and tumors affecting peripheral nerves fall within the expertise of neuro-oncological surgery (brain and nerve surgery oncology). It is known that 20-25% of cancer patients have brain or spinal metastases. The treatment of brain and spinal tumors requires a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach. Anadolu Health Center handles these patients through collaboration between the following departments:
What diseases are treated in our department?
Spinal metastases often present with severe pain and require treatment. Peripheral nerve and spinal cord tumors are significant because their effects on the nerves lead to pain and weakness in patients.
In deep-seated brain tumors, neuronavigation technology is used to minimize damage to normal brain tissue. These technologies allow the surgeon to reach deeply located small tumors with a small incision. In these cases, post-operative patient comfort is higher compared to other cases. Additionally, navigation-supported biopsies are used to assist in diagnosing difficult lesions, and the Cyberknife® Radiosurgery method is used for the treatment of certain tumors. Furthermore, Video-EEG monitoring and brain mapping techniques are employed as helpful methods for determining the location of tumors.
