Eye Problems May Increase During Pregnancy
Wrinkles, sagging skin, or excess fat occurring in the upper or lower eyelids can lead to drooping skin around the eyes. Anadolu Health Center Eye Diseases Specialist Op. Dr. Yusuf Avni Yılmaz states that this condition can progress to visual impairments. "In cases of swelling of the eyelids caused by various reasons, blepharoplasty or eyelid aesthetic surgery can be performed. This surgery can be applied to individuals' upper or lower eyelids, or even both at the same time," he said. Op. Dr. Yusuf Avni Yılmaz provided important information on the topic...
Over time, increasing wrinkles and excess fat can cause skin sagging and even visual impairments in individuals. In such cases, medical intervention may become necessary in addition to aesthetic reasons. Eyelid surgery can be performed to correct sagging skin and fatty tissue; sometimes, it can also involve redistributing excess fat to areas with less fat or creating an eyelid crease for those who do not have a prominent eyelid line.
A detailed eye examination is important. The patient's general medical evaluations should be conducted to determine if there are any eye diseases that would prevent surgery. For the successful outcome of eyelid surgery, it is essential that there are no factors affecting wound healing and that no serious eye diseases are present. Individuals with diseases that hinder healing, those experiencing deformities in the eyelid due to brow ptosis, and excessively obsessive individuals may not be suitable candidates for eyelid surgery.
After the surgery, which lasts between one to two hours, it is important for the patient to apply ice compresses to reduce swelling. Additionally, light physical activities, such as walking, can help eliminate the resulting edema. Swelling may begin to decrease 48 to 72 hours after the surgery. Careful preoperative evaluation, meticulous work, and good postoperative follow-up are crucial to minimize complications such as double vision, bleeding, and infection that may arise from eyelid surgery.
