Laser Liposuction

Although commonly referred to as a "weight loss surgery," liposuction is actually a procedure used for patients who cannot eliminate localized fat despite dieting and exercise. It is a sought-after operation that provides results for such patients.

How does the method work?

In laser liposuction, very small cannulas are inserted under the skin into the targeted areas. Laser energy is used to break down the fat. The fat cells broken down by the laser energy are distributed more evenly under the skin. Thanks to this even distribution, there are no ripple or dimpled appearances in the treated areas of the body after the procedure.

In laser liposuction, a controlled and safe burn area is created in the dermal layer of the skin under the surface, starting a closed-system wound healing process. Due to this effect, the tissue contracts, causing the skin to tighten and firm up. This application tightens the outer surface of the skin, thus preventing sagging in the areas where fat tissue has been removed.

Who is laser liposuction suitable for?

Most patients who seek liposuction require abdominoplasty (tummy tuck). For patients who are unsure whether they need a tummy tuck or liposuction, laser liposuction is a more suitable option. After standard liposuction, patients may experience skin sagging and the appearance of ripples or depressions on the skin. Laser liposuction helps prevent these skin sagging issues. The main advantage of laser liposuction is its ability to tighten the skin and ensure better adaptation to the body, eliminating the appearance of ripples or depressions.

Before performing this operation, the patient's body mass index (BMI) is calculated based on their height and weight. This procedure is only performed on patients with a suitable BMI. The ideal candidate for laser liposuction is a patient who has reached their desired weight and wants to maintain it. If the patient does not experience significant weight fluctuations after the procedure, the body shaping achieved through laser liposuction becomes permanent.

When is the patient discharged?

The patient is discharged on the same day. The operation is completed comfortably within a few hours under sedation without the need for general anesthesia. After the procedure, it is desired that the skin heals by adhering to the muscles, so patients are required to wear a surgical corset for three weeks following the procedure.
